The Scottish Highlands

With a name like 'The Bridge of Oich' we had to stop and investigate. This is the old suspension bridge across the River Oich built in 1854 after the 1849 floods washed the old stone bridge away. It has huge granite pylons on either shore anchoring a unique double cantilever chain support system. This single wide span avoided the dangers of more floods.
